Mobile Web Site Design

A mobile website is one which has been specifically designed and optimised for displaying on the relatively small screen of a mobile smart phone - and nothing else.  When displayed on larger viewing devices like tablets, laptops, etc, it usually appears like a long, narrow column with wide blank spaces on either side.

WebLink4u’s Dedicated Mobile Site

WebLink4u has a dedicated mobile website at www.weblink4u.mobi - see image left.  The website was designed to be as similar to the main site as possible, but with an emphasis on being optimised for viewing on a smart phone in portrait mode as shown. Instead of the permanently visible menu displayed on the main site, the menu has been condensed into a single button.  The full menu selection can be viewed when the button is clicked.  Once the selection has been made, the full menu returns to button mode. When viewed on a mobile smart phone the website will look good, but when viewed on a larger screen it will look similar to the following: Note that the main content remains the same width no matter what size screen is used to view it.  The larger the screen, the larger the blank sections on either side. To have a website that responds to different sized viewing screens, a responsive web design website - RWD - is recommended.  For more information, click here.

Mobile smartphone users are now largest number of website visitors
